El sueño del Mara’akame tells the story of Nieri, a young native Huichol whose dream is to travel with his band and play in a concert in Mexico City. But his father, a shaman Huichol, has other planes for him.
The film premiered at the 14th Morelia International Film Festival and was awarded Best First of Second Mexican Feature Film. It received 12 nominations for the 59th Ariel Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.It won two, for Best Original Music and Best First Work.
